Local Jazz Musician Collab Effortlessly Entertain at Jazz on the Fort

We recorded this video on the evening of Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Fort Frederik Museum on St. Croix, United Virgin Islands, at the end of another humorously eventful Virgin Islands day that began with less than 20 passengers boarding a SAAB 340 twice within in three hours after some random “engine trouble” at the Cyril E. King airport on St. Thomas.

We sat back and relaxed with RC & Company’s Roan Creque along with a combination of special musical guests who we flew over with (after the engine was fixed of course) from St. Thomas including Lorna “Songbird” Freeman, Victor Provost, Neil Simon and Dion Parson.

Mr. Kevre Hendricks directed the Educational Complex Jazz Ensemble who performed as the opening act earlier in the program, then the mentors themselves had their turn to unwind and share musical libations under the palms overlooking the ocean right alongside the Frederiksted shore. With an almost effortless performance, it is easy to see how young Virgin Islanders can get lost in finding the love of music and the arts in the way only we can.

By the way, the pilot from our airport adventure earlier in the day was actually flown over to St. Thomas from St. Croix, so I assume he made it back, but I didn’t see him at the concert. 🙂 Gotta love island life.

Lesson for the day: When in a rush, always bring music… or get stuck in an airport with musicians. Either way works.
