Farmers Markets, Fresh Produce Stands & Agriculture Fairs

This updated information provides examples and map links of farmers markets and fruit or produce stands throughout the Virgin Islands of the United States. More to be added.

Agriculture is the foundation of a culture and community. The island of St. Croix on the Virgin Islands used to be known as the breadbasket of the Caribbean until colonial influence drastically shifted to tourism as the main economic income source. In addition to the weekly Saturday markets and annual fairs, local farmers still toil the soil and produce fresh local food, growing and selling at their regular locations. Where are they and what’s available? From the Bordeaux Farmers’ Market (open twice on Sundays monthly) to fruit and produce vendors throughout Charlotte Amalie or roadsides on the various sides of the island, there are a variety of stands around the islands to purchase from local and Caribbean farmers.
